Laura Patricia Mitchell is the firstborn daughter of Paige Matthews and Henry Mitchell, born in 2010. She is the older twin of Grace and the older sister of Henry Mitchell Jr. Like her siblings, Laura is a Whitelighter-Witch, having inherited both magical genes from her mother. She is named after one of her Warren ancestors and her maternal (biological) grandmother, Patricia Halliwell.

History[]

Early Life[]

As noted by Wyatt, the eight-year-old twins had long dark blonde hair and green eyes. Laura had her hair in a ponytail while Grace had it loose, which was the only way to keep them apart sometimes, as they were nearly-identical. According to Paige, Laura was always the logical-minded one.

As the twins grew up, they were inseparable despite being different as night and day. Laura is known as the smart and serious one of the pair, being good at school and not obsessing over guys as much. Like her sister, she also likes fashion, but had a more casual dress style.

As a child Laura loved to paint, but she stopped when she went to high school, after her sister convinced her that her hobby was neither beautiful nor useful.

Moving to Paris[]

At the age of nineteen and fresh out of high school, the twins applied to a college in Paris together without telling their parents. Laura wanted to study cultural history while Grace wanted to study art. When they finally told their parents, they were furious and this anger was later enhanced by the Spirit of Rage, Darius. while initially sticking together, the sisters later turned on each other as well and even used their elemental powers at each other. However, when the cause was revealed, they reconciled.

The twins then explained to their parents that they were old and mature enough to make this decision on their own. Their parents later agreed and allowed the twins to move to Paris while moving to LA themselves because of Henry's new job.

Dealing with Warlocks[]

After several months in Paris, Laura had started dating a charming guy named Oliver. However, she soon learned that either he or Grace's date Luke was a warlock. Laura refused to believe it at first, though she eventually accepted the possibility. The twins met with Melinda, who was on vacation there, and asked for help in identifying the warlock.

The cousins wanted to lure both guys to a rave, where Melinda could freeze them so they could be tested for blood, as warlocks don't bleed. However, Laura began to suspect something was going on with Grace. After some persuasion, Grace admitted she had found out Luke was a warlock earlier that day, and that Oliver was one as well. The cousins still decided to go through with the plan, though it quickly fell apart as they got separated from Grace and Oliver proved to be immune to Melinda's power.

Laura confronted Oliver and, along with Melinda and Ryan, was able to freeze and vanquish him. The cousins then confronted the leader of the warlocks, Bastion, and vanquished him as well. Laura then believed the threat was over, unaware of the fact that Grace had faked Luke's death because of her feelings for him.

Saving Grace[]

After all that had happened with Oliver, Laura decided to take a break from the boys and focus solely on studying. Since she spent a lot of time studying at the library, she did not notice that Grace had continued to see Luke in secret. Back in the dormitory, she ran into the sister who wore a very expensive dress, and tried in vain to know from whom she had got it from deducing that Grace was seeing someone.

Shortly after the twins were joined by their brother who had just developed the power to teleport, and accompanied him to Los Angeles where they would celebrate the anniversary of their parents. They were joined by Wyatt and Noah who wanted Paige's help to track down their new charge, and Laura seemed to be attracted to Noah, before discovering that he was dating Prue. She later helped them with the spell needed to find their charge.

Luke's manipulations led Grace to get angry with them and attack them. Shortly after, Luke appeared and took Grace away with them. At that point the family discussed situation and deduced that Luke must have manipulated Grace for months and now he was using magic on her, pushing her to become a warlock, to make her his own for eternity. Although Paige had told her it was not her fault, Laura felt like a horrible sister for not having noticed what was happening to Grace.

Laura, Henry, and Paige managed to track down Grace and Luke in a clothing store, and they tried in vain to reason with her. At one point Aubrey Collins - a witch who wanted to take revenge on Luke who had killed her sister, and her Whitelighter - pushed everyone back with a telekinetic wave of energy, and tried to kill Luke, but Grace intervened and stabbed Aubrey with an athame, killing her ad absorbing her powers thus becoming a warlock.

Grace looked pleased with her transformation, and she wanted to leave with Luke and start a life with him, but Laura froze him, so Grace touching him destroyed him. Enraged by the death of her love, Grace tried to kill Laura but was stopped by Wyatt. However, nobody had the strength to face Grace so teleported away. Laura was devastated, and refusing to understand that her sister was a lost cause, decided to look for a way to save her.

Bachelorette Party[]

Grace's betrayal had a devastating effect on her twin. Laura pretended that everything was fine and went back to college, but she ended up neglecting herself. Around this time, she got closer to Zoey, who urged her to take better care of herself and express her grief. Laura also searched for a way to save Grace, though her efforts were in vain, as neither she nor the Solaris coven was able to find anything. When invited to Melinda's bachelorette party, Laura feared that her presence would ruin the mood, so Zoey gave her a potion that would calm her nerves and expressed her wish for Laura to join the coven. Laura accepted the potion and told Zoey she would think about her offer.

Arriving at P3 Laura felt uncomfortable with her cousins as she hadn't seen them in a long time and wasn't very up to date on what had happened in their lives recently. Worse still, Chris arrived shortly after he wanted information on Morrigan from her. Laura then gave him the information she had found on the writings of a witch named Nimue and this gave her cousin the idea of summoning Merlin's spirit, but Laura told him that no one had ever succeeded and that therefore the wizard must have reincarnated. Chris then decided to take control of his past life to interrogate Merlin in the past, Laura thought it was a risky plan, but Chris said he was determined not to lose any family members, which made Laura rethink Grace . Chris apologized to Laura for not even asking her how she was after her twin became a warlock, but she said she didn't want to talk about it and asked him not to do anything rash. Chris promised and left, but their dialogue prompted Laura to drink Zoey's potion. Unfortunately as she added the champagne to the punch, Laura did not notice that the potion bottle had overturned and the contents had ended up in the punch.

When Laura realized it all the other guests had already drunk, and since none were as heartbroken as she was, the potion made them lose their inhibitions: after an argument with Melinda's colleagues, Penny turned them into chickens with a potion, to then go find a stripper followed by Payton, while Melinda took the chickens to Les Trois to cook them, Prue instead went to find her boyfriend Noah to have sex. It fell to Laura the unenviable task of preventing her cousins from making disasters and rushed in pursuit of Melinda, after consulting with Zoey about the effect of the potion. Luckily Laura managed to convince her cousin not to cook her friend and shortly after she was joined by Noah, to whom she explained what had happened, Noah informed her in turn that Chris had changed places with Lancelot, so the witch and Whitelighter went in search of the cousins. Chris was easy to find because Lancelot had been hit by a car and was hospitalized. After explaining the situation to Chris's girlfriend and begging her to watch over him, the two returned to P3 where Noah had sensed Penny and Payton.

There the two discovered that Penny had hypnotized a mortal to force him to lap dance for her and Payton, but luckily the two were able to bring the sisters back to reason. After Noah allowed Prue to locate him, she too was recovered. At that point Laura told her cousins the story of the potion, but no one took it out on her.

The Fight with Grace[]

Realizing how much she missed her family and how lonely she felt in Paris, Laura decided to change college and finish her studies at Berkley so that she could return to live in San Francisco. Laura took care not to let Melinda find out what was about to happen and distracted her by helping her with the wedding preparations. When Wyatt told them that he feared something strange was happening to his ex-boyfriend Dylan, Laura encouraged him to follow his instincts.

Laura also took care of preparing a security system in the church where the wedding was to be held, where she was joined by Grace who, after frightening and teasing her, left. Seeing her twin again came as a tremendous shock to Laura, and she didn't dare to talk to anyone, not even her parents, even though she told her mother she was going to study in Berkeley University after the summer.

During the ceremony Grace entered the church and Laura decided to challenge her to a duel. The two left the church and went to the nearby cemetery, where they were joined by their parents. Their father, however, had become Morrigan's slave and prevented Paige from intervening. Using Henry, Morrigan revealed to the Mitchells that it was due to the influence of a potion she brewed that Grace had become a warlock. Laura, however, realized that Grace had decided on her own to spare Luke and continue dating him and that she was still responsible for her actions. Laura fought well, but Grace eventually got the better of her and would have killed her had it not been for Junior's arrival and intervention. The latter could have killed Grace, but hoping to still be able to save Paige and Laura convinced him to let her go. Laura and Henry later discussed what had happened and agreed that in case of need they would fight their sister together. At the end of summer Laura left Paris and moved to Berkley. She also decided to resume her old hobby, painting.

Facing Rhea[]

Shortly after her return, Payton called a family reunion and although Laura feared it was a new magical emergency, she decided to attend. In reality, Payton just wanted to discuss Penny refusing to accept that Morrigan had killed Prue. The cousins were joined by Noah, who informed them that the Titaness Rhea, had broken free from her prison and that in order to defeat her, the cousins had to be transformed into Gods. With the divine essence, Laura became the Goddess of Wisdom. Driven by her newfound power and believing the best course of action is to learn everything she can about Rhea in order to stop her, Laura left for Magic School in order to use its library for research.

At Magic School, Laura met the Art Professor, Callum Marks, and openly flirted with him. When Callum openly objected to Laura absorbing all the contents from the books, Laura demanded respect and demanded he kneel. The arrival of Noah and Penny snapped Laura out of her crazed state, then apologised to Callum and accepted his invitation for coffee.

Along with Noah and Penny, Laura teleported to P3 for Henry and discovered his Greek makeover of the club. After Penny left to fight Rhea, Laura helped Henry open up about him avoiding his problems instead of facing them. Laura then began running battle scenarios in her mind for the fight ahead. Upon locating and teleporting to Chris and Wyatt, Laura, Henry and Noah witnessed the brothers fighting each other. Deducing they were under Penny's powers and Henry subsequently reversing it, Laura revealed to the group that Penny and joined Rhea and in order to help her, Penny needs to deal with her grief.

Laura returned to the manor with the others to find the entire street turned into a sanctuary by Payton and cautioned to be careful when removing it so Payton doesn't lose control. As the others tried to talk sense into Payton, Laura tried looking into the future, only to stop in terror after looking too far in time and seeing nothing but darkness. She later left in order to paint what she saw before she forgets. Later on, Laura opened up to Noah about what she saw and reassured him about being the family's Whitelighter. Rejoining her family, Laura formulated a plan to make Penny feel everyone's grief with the in order to stop her, and joined Chris in rewriting the Empathy Spell.

Through Henry's powers, Laura and the others were able to surround Penny and cast the spell on her. The spell allowed Penny to express her grief, after which the cousins including Laura forgave Penny for her actions. Noah later extracted the divine essence from the cousins. The following night, Laura was in her dorm room looking over the paintings of her visions, figuring out they're warnings. Wanting to give everyone some peace of mind, Laura decided to withhold the information, and promised Noah that she'll tell them when the time is right.

Laura and her prince[]

Laura spent weeks trying to figure out what her paintings meant, but she couldn't get a spider out of the hole. One morning she went to the library to study, but she discovered that since a European prince was visiting her the students could not access it and she angrily walked in there. Bumping into Prince Alexi, she was drawn to him and when he asked her to show her the city, she willingly accepted and the two sneaked off to avoid Alexi's guards.

The couple had a few fun hours, but then they were found first by the guards and then by Baron Reicher a demon who occupied an important position in Alexi's country. A fight ensued and the two managed to escape and at that point Alexi revealed to her that her brother Casimir was a Lord of War who had come to America in order to prove his worth by killing a firstborn witch who happened to be Wyatt.

The two decided to go and warn Laura's cousin, but by the time they arrived at his house he and Penny had already escaped an ambush by Casimir which soon caught up with them along with the baron and guards with demonic powers, so the trio fled to the Brimstone Institute.

Alexi insisted on at least making an attempt to make her brother reason and eventually the cousins agreed, and Laura wanted to go with him to protect him, while Wyatt and Penny decided to hunt down the baron, however it was the latter who captured the Laura and Alexi. Shortly thereafter Wyatt was challenged to a duel by the prince who promised to let the others go and accepted. However, unlike Casimir, Wyatt had no idea how to use the sword and soon ended up at a disadvantage. Penny then tried to hypnotize the baron, but for a change she failed and this led to a mass confrontation.

Eventually Alexi got her brother to reason and Casimir and the Baron killed each other. When Reicher died, his guards became normal people again. The cousins spent the night in the royal palace and the next morning Laura and Alexi talked and understanding that there could never be anything between them they greeted each other with a kiss (Alexi now had a country to rule and Laura could not leave her family again to be with him). Shortly thereafter the girl informed her cousins of her visions.

Spell Casting: The ability to cast spells and perform rituals.

Scrying: The ability to locate beings or objects with a crystal and a map.

Active Powers

Cryokinesis: The ability to generate and manipulate ice and cold with the mind. Laura can release a cloud of ice particles by blowing on her palm or release a stream of ice directly from her hands. She can also activate her power through physical contact, freezing anything she touches. Additionally, she can create ice shards which she can use as projectiles or blades.

High Resistance: The ability to be highly resistant to physical and magical harm.

Notes and Trivia[]

Despite being a Whitelighter-Witch, Laura did not inherit enough Whitelighter genes to get Whitelighter powers, which is something she regrets.
There is a fifty percent chance that her past life is Nimue.
As a child, Laura enjoyed painting, a passion she inherited from her mother. She stopped in high school, though she picked it up again after losing Grace and Prue to express her emotions.
Laura shares similarities to her ancestor P. Bowen: both can manipulate ice and had to face off against a relative with fire based powers who turned evil after being seduced by a warlock.
Laura and her siblings are the first second-generation hybrids to appear in the series.
